Our fearless Moderator asked me to put this here. Skip is probably the best vintage amp specialist in the bay area. He is very free with advice, very
knowledgeable and reasonably priced.

I'm thinking about having Keith Holland (Guitar Hospital in Los Gatos) build me a custom telecaster and wanted to see if anyone has had any previous
experience from there before I do this. He seems like a great guy that knows his stuff but I haven't been able to find any reviews for his guitars so yeah,
just wanted to check. Thanks!

Eric Schoenberg

Over the weekend, I decided to take a little family trip to Tiburon, mainly to stop by Eric Schoenberg's shop. It was the first time I've been there.
What a quaint little place, the walls filled with eye candy. I didn't want to leave, but the family was getting hungry, so we had a great early dinner at
a Mexican restaurant next door, which was also fantastic (as was the sangria). Wish Schoenberg Guitars was a little closer!!!

Acoustic Guitar Service & Repairs around the Bay

Let's say someone needs a fair amount of repairs on a vintage Martin flattop. (I'm not talking about a simple set-up, but more like a neck reset,
refret, crack repairs, and/or new bridge fabrication). Besides Gryphon, what other shops/luthiers would others recommend for a repair estimate?

Not exactly the bay area, but I thought I'd pass along our favorite luthier and just a fine person. We have some of his instruments and he works on all
our instruments. Authorized Martin guy too.

I've been over at Gryphon a few times recently, and, given the economy, they (still) seem to be doing a thriving business. A quick peek in the back, and
there seemed to be a number of guitars ready for pickup from the service department. It confirms my theory that two things are recession-proof . . . guitars
and golf. Enthusiasts will spend on both, regardless of the economy!
