Thinking of trying out this switch on my Tele to get the neck and bridge pickup "in series" setting. Supposed to produce a "beefier"
sound. Any of you have this switch setup and any opinion of it?

Hi bamboleo,
Although I have left my Tele in the '66 vintage 3way switch wiring, I did just toy with this mod on a PRS and it was pretty cool. Basically you turn your two single coil pups that are normally in parallel to each other into one really wide humbucker when you wire them in series! It can really give you a thicker and fatter tone. Since you don't lose any of your current pup settings it sure is worth a try if you like to experiment. You might want to think about where on the switch you would like the different settings while searching for the drawing, though. Below is the Seymour Duncan style drawing with the Neck pup position On Alone in between the Parallel & In Series settings. http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=tele_4ws You can also wire it so the Neck is On Alone in the full forward position so that the Parallel and In Series positions are in the middle (P2 & P3). I have that one here in my stack of drawings if you need it. I can always scan it for you. Most drawings on the net are the SD type and you may want to keep your Neck pup On Alone in the full forward position to be comfortable. Its up to you. I hope this helps and let us know how it sounds if you give it a try....

Hi Telemikester,
I'm really glad I posted this. You actually answered my next question which would have been regarding the switch to pickup configuration. I think the parallel and in series in the P2 & P3 position you mentioned makes more practical sense. I picked up a Fender 4 way switch kit today and their wiring is like the Seymour Duncan wiring. That configuration seems odd and might take some getting used to. If it's not too much trouble can you please post or email me the other switch configuration. Thanks!
Eddie
